Have you ever been on a play that almost bored you to death? I have, and here´s my experience. It was a German play about three fairytales from H.C. Andersen, called The Little Mermaid, The Little Swineherd and The Snow Queen.
The play started off with the narrator coming on stage and introduced himself as Hans Christian Andersen. The play began with the first tale, The Little Mermaid. I´d love to tell you as much as I could, but I understood approximately 8 words in the whole play. But to sum up everything I know the Little Mermaid was about a mermaid, that fell in love with a prince and gave up her voice in order to have legs. The Little Swineherd was about a prince who fell in love with a princess that was very arrogant. How the rest of the play went, I couldn´t tell you. I couldn´t concentrate. The props were not that good and I´d rather stare at a wall than endure the German language. On the other hand, their German was spectacular.
So, to sum it up, I didn´t have fun, to say the least. People that like Germany and the German language would like it maybe even love it. Not me, though. I´d give it a 2/10. At least they tried. It just wasn´t my cup of tea.
