On Wednesday 6th of November our classroom visited one of the most modern incineration plant in Chotíkov near Pilsen. We had an educational excursion. We learnt a lot of interesting information about liquidation of waste. Waste is put into
large bunkers. The general waste gets first magnetically separated and separated from hazardous substances. The released energy is used either for heat water, generates steam and electricity for households and industry in Pilsen. All processes are controlled from the control room by operators. We were really surprised when we saw how all the waste is burning and how they grab all the waste with the crane. It didn’t really smell good, but it makes sense because they are burning the waste. One human will produce 350 – 450 kg of a waste a year. The plant can burn 12 tons an hour. We have really enjoyed the visit and we are glad that we know how it works.
