On Friday, 22nd of March, kvintas, and the students of history seminar classes took part in the lecture of Doc. PhDr. Hana Vymazalová, Ph.D. From the Czech Egyptology Institut of Philosophical Faculty of Charles University. Dr. Vymazalová showed us modern approaches and a lot of examples of modern Egyptological studies in this specific field. We found out that Czech Egyptologists belong to the absolute top when it comes to knowledge, system of work and quality of work. They are part of this scientific field and their work in Egypt is definitely significant and worth mentioning. In a long discussion we were informed about the possibility to study this subject, how important the knowledge of foreign languages (mostly English, German and French) is while studying this subject, how important is to protect a cultural heritage in Egypt. We were also told about how the message of Old Egypt is accepted by modern civilization of Egypt and how much the culture of Old Egypt have influenced the modern Egypt and the whole European civilization.
Dr. Vymazalová was pleasantly surprises when receiving a picture of Nefertiti painted by our students Lukáš Urbánek and Antonín Frodl from kvinta a as a big thanks for the willingness of Dr. Vymazalová to come to our school and to have a lecture here. We strongly believe that the positive impression from the whole day and the desire to study this interesting subject will stay with our students for a long time. I also hope that we will introduce this interesting field of study sometimes in the future here in our school.
