For many years the students of Masary grammar school took part to participate in conferences of EYP. We also tried to be politicians and the students of 2. A set on the trip to National Conference in Ostrava.
On Thursday after four hours in train we finally could see Technical University Ostrava where the conference took part. The first day was connected with meeting other delegates, committees and organizers. After the official Opening ceremony, there was Euro-village – food from all around Europe which was prepared by students themselves. We could try for example – potato pancakes, krowky, sour pickles. Our country was Poland and we tried hard to present the cuisine of this country.
Friday and Saturday was hard work in committees. We mostly loved coffee breaks, which we used for getting to know each other. The most important part of the work was cooperation with our sister committees. I loved so called energizers: moving activities after a hard work where our concentration was down.
We finished both days with events that we were so much looking forward to – on Friday a cultural evening: guided tour round Ostrava. We could choose from several options, this was the best.
Saturday work was finished with panel debate about EU and the visions about the future of EU. The rest of the evening was connected with finishing resolutions and preparing for Sunday´s general Assembly.
Finale – Sunday: we finally got it! There was a General Assembly. Committees introduced their resolutions, there were negotiation rounds and votinf for each committee. Closing ceremony was so emotional and full of thank yous and byes. Full of emotions we were listening to Czech national anthem and then to EU anthem. After a long trip home to Pilsen we could realize how helpful and great this EYP is teaching us soft skills and a lot more.
Who knows? We might meet somewhere beyond Czech borders.
As we say: See you somewhere in Europe.
