On Tuesday 24, 4. B visited Prague tracing Jewish monuments and program. After a train delay, we finally arrived to our first destination – Jewish Prague Museum. We had an interactive lecture about some Jewish traditions, customs and celebrations. We also got to know the difference between chanuka and Christian Christmas.

Then we had a guided tour round the Oldtown Synagogue. We were interested not only in the monumental gothic building but also in its story. Despite numerous troubles of a local Jewish community, it has been serving its purposes since 13th century. It is connected with the work of Rabi Lowi, a creator of legendary Golem.

Then we moved to Pinkas Synagogue. There is a magnificent monument to almost 80, 000 Czech and Moravian Jews, victims of holocaust. The whole exhibition is even more moving while watching a permanent exhibition of drawings done by children who were imprisoned in Terezín. We also visited Jewish cemetery which served as a burial places between 15-18th century.

At the end of our excursion, we visited Národní Třída and the moving head of Frantz Kafka, an important Prague Jewish writer. The work of an artist David Černý was used as a background for our picture together and finally it was time to go home.
